Todd Omohundro: Press

Dueling Pianos Comes to Jezebel’s Lounge this spring and summer at the Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino, starting May 7th to September 5th, 2010.

Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino will stage the highly successful entertainment concept of dueling pianos, originating from New Orleans and now a popular offering in Las Vegas and other resort markets. The casino will present resident performer, Philadelphia favorite, Dr. Bobby Fingers’ Dueling Pianos, led by piano/vocalist Dr. Bobby Fingers, and his piano/vocalist partner Todd O. Adding a slight twist to the presentation will be the inclusion of drummer Bob Jr. Dr. Bobby Fingers’ Dueling Pianos will start a long standing run on May 7th and go through the summer season to September 5th with a special sneak preview the weekend of April 16th and 17th.

Dr. Bobby Fingers, along with Todd O, were the masters of dueling pianos in the late 90’s with long running engagements at popular Philadelphia nightspots like Margaritaville and Maui on Delaware Avenue and Market Street Live in center city. One of the key ingredients required to present this entertainment concept is big, spontaneous personalities that can encourage and inspire audience participation. The organized chaos is expertly directed by Dr. Bobby Fingers as audience members sing along, fill in the blanks and jump up out of their seats to the sure-fire mix of classic rock and the most popular hits in contemporary music. Hilarity ensues as Dr. Bobby Fingers takes creative license by changing some of the lyrics with comical results that the audience is only too happy to play along. The night is in capable hands with these seasoned pros. A night of raucous fun is guaranteed! Extremely popular with birthday celebrants, bachelor and bachelorette groups, Dr. Bobby Fingers’ Dueling pianos is an experience not to miss!

Shows will be presented every Friday and Saturday starting May 7th with the addition of Thursday shows effective July 1st. Additional shows may be added in the summer season. Stay tuned.

Do not miss the chance to catch these fun-packed performances. Nobody does it better than Dr. Bobby Fingers!

Todd Omohundro

Philadelphia area film creator Todd Omohundro has created a video for his original song called Dream A New Dream. Born in central Pennsylvania, Todd attended the University Of The Arts on in Philadelphia and settled in Lansdale. 'I get chills when I think of how the early Americans risked their lives and created a new government based on freedom of speech, freedom of religion and so forth. I believe that those documents set in place a government unparallel in human history. It’s tragic how big lobby money and corruption have taken us away from that original vision. I believe we need to dream a new dream or we are going to have a second revolution in the United States.' 'I was inspired by SBK pictures short movie that used to run at the Franklin Institute before every IMAX show. They used a boom and slowly raised up a Philadelphia street in the morning to start the movie. You can see hints of that movie in my original song video. I was teaching Jeffrey Berry’s daughter at a private Catholic school in Bryn Mawr and we were doing a song video project on VHS when she brought in an edited video and said her dad had created that IMAX movie.' Todd Omohundro is a filmmaker, composer, performer and music teacher in the public schools. He has been teaching in the Wissahickon School District for over 10 years and played gigs all over Philadelphia and New Jersey, from corporate events at the Union League, to New Hope, the Jersey shore and the (now defunct) Dueling Piano Bar at 8th and Market streets in the old Lit Brothers building. Todd is very excited about creating more original films and videos and songs/compositions that express his passions to make people think and feel new ideas. Todd also loves any film history that relates to Philadelphia. The link to Dream A New Dream: is below. (best when viewed full screen) http://www.ToddOMusic.com

Music teacher blends song and history

Todd Omohundro, a songwriter, filmmaker and Wissahickon School District music teacher, created a musical video featuring local scenes and history for his original song titled "Dream A New Dream."

Omohundro, a resident of Lansdale who teaches at the Blue Bell and Shady Grove elementary schools, said he is interested in American history and the visions of America's forefathers concerning free speech and religion.
The video features Omohundro's original jazz pop score set to scenes of Philadelphia and quotes from historical figures such as Ben Franklin. The songwriter, pianist, drummer, guitarist and vocalist calls his genre of music a mix of pop and rock with a touch of jazz.
"I get chills when I think of the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence and how those folks created a brand new government that had never been seen before. I feel like we have gotten away from some of those original ideals, and I think we are at a turning point," Omohundro said.
Omohundro has created videos before that were set in music studios with a singer-songwriter feel. Omohundro said he has never done a theme video before that incorporates history to make a statement. He said he enjoys helping people think and explore new ideas and said original music and films are a good way to do so.
Omohundro said the title, "Dream a new Dream" is an idea of a new vision for people to work in harmony with each other.
In addition to creating musical videos, Omohundro plays live at venues in and around Philadelphia and in New Jersey.
Omohundro teaches introductory music with instruments such as guitar, recorder and keyboard and includes lessons about world music culture, music theory and music history to students from kindergarten to grade five. He said he hopes to eventually incorporate music video production into the curriculum. In addition to teaching students about music, Omohundro teaches students to compose their own music.
Omohundro, a teacher in the Wissahickon School District for more than 10 years, said he believes that children benefit greatly from musical education.
"It's extremely meaningful in that music is directly linked to emotion and intelligence and helps integrate the whole brain. Learning about music from around the world also helps to teach tolerance," Omohundro said.

Doylestown In The Pink

"Pink surprised the crowd grooving to Todd O & The Gman Saturday at Stephanie's (29 S. Main) in Doylestown by hopping onstage to sing a couple of songs with the band. The Doylestown-raised singer, born Alecia Moore, earlier was in the club playing pool with her brother, but then ended up singing 'Me and Bobby McGee' and 'Summertime' with the band featuring Todd Omohundro on keyboards and vocals and Garret Hosler on drums/percussion. 'She brought the house down" Omohundro told us yesterday. 'We were on a high afterwards.' Recently wed to motocross biker Carey Hart, Pink is a huge Janis Joplin fan and is suppossed to portray the late howler one day in a long-delayed biopic to be directed by Penelope Spheeris. Pink, who dropped out of Central Bucks West but later earned a G.E.D, drops her new album 'I'm Not Dead' on April 4. "
Dan Gross - Philadelphia Daily News
"On a recent Saturday, The Diablo Sandwich Band was pumping up the party, playing favorites such as “Kiss Off” by the Violent Femmes and “Close To Me” by The Cure, and adding their own twist with a four-piece horn section and Latin percussion. There were undeniable signs of summer fun evident at every table: tapping feet, more rounds of drinks, loud laughter and of course, beautiful plates of fresh lobster, baby back ribs and tomato pies. All through our meal, the band continued to blast out favorite tunes as the diners around us continued to sing along and enjoy themselves. Families and friends took group pictures, tables bought other tables rounds of drinks and strangers leaned over to comment on the music. I was shocked to realize it was 11 p.m. when we emerged onto the street — we had been so caught up in the party inside that our dinner had taken three hours. That is exactly what makes this restaurant and tavern an ideal destination for a good time and good food. Buckalew’s allows you to escape day to day pressures and savor the precious sounds and flavors of summer. "
